NGC 5472 (also IRAS 14042-0513, MCG -1-36-8 and PGC 50345) is a magnitude +14.0 spiral galaxy located 134 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. The galaxy forms a pair with the galaxy NGC 5468.
The galaxy was discovered by Irish astronomer R. J. Mitchell, assistant to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 19th April 1855.
