NGC 4855 (also MCG -2-33-77 and PGC 44572) is a magnitude +12.9 elliptical galaxy located 221 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/19 refractor at the Arcetri Observatory on the 19th April 1882.
