NGC 4836 (also IRAS 12549-1228, MCG -2-33-72 and PGC 44328) is a magnitude +13.4 spiral galaxy located 236 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/19 refractor at the Arcetri Observatory on the 19th April 1882.
