NGC 4865 (also MCG 5-31-64, UGC 8100 and PGC 44578) is a magnitude +13.7 elliptical galaxy located 216 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
The galaxy was discovered by German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 22nd April 1865.
