NGC 4000 (also IRAS 11554+2524, MCG 4-28-103, UGC 6949 and PGC 37643) is a magnitude +14.6 edge-on spiral galaxy located 209 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.
The galaxy was discovered by Irish astronomer Lawrence Parsons, 4th Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 25th April 1878.
