NGC 5577 (also IRAS 14187+0339, MCG 1-37-9, UGC 9187 and PGC 51286) is a magnitude +12.6 spiral galaxy located 68 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by Anglo-Irish astronomer George Johnstone Stoney, assistant to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 26th April 1849.
