NGC 5259 (also NGC 5259-1, MCG 5-32-52 and PGC 48292) is a magnitude +14.2 elliptical galaxy located 840 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 27th April 1865.
