NGC 5957 (also IRAS 15330+1212, MCG 2-40-4, UGC 9915 and PGC 55520) is a magnitude +11.7 face-on spiral galaxy located 84 million light-years away in the constellation Serpens.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 reflector at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 29th April 1865.
