NGC 5690 (also IRAS 14351+0230, MCG 0-37-19, UGC 9416 and PGC 52273) is a magnitude +11.8 edge-on spiral galaxy located 81 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. The galaxy is near to the magnitude +6.45 double star HD 128563.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 30th April 1786.
