NGC 5217 (also MCG 3-35-9, UGC 8546 and PGC 47793) is a magnitude +12.6 elliptical galaxy located 370 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 7th May 1826.
