NGC 3855 (also IC 2953, MCG 6-26-25, UGC 6709 and PGC 36530) is a magnitude +14.0 spiral galaxy located 428 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The galaxy was discovered by German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 8th May 1864. The galaxy was rediscovered by Stephane Javelle in June 1896 and relisted as IC 2953.
