NGC 5224 (also MCG 1-35-9 and PGC 47884) is a magnitude +14.0 spiral galaxy located 313 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 12th May 1793.
