NGC 5198 (also MCG 8-25-15, UGC 8499 and PGC 47441) is a magnitude +11.8 elliptical galaxy located 116 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 12th May 1787.
