George C. Deutsch, the unqualified presidential appointee at NASA who told a Web designer to add the word "theory" at every mention of the Big Bang, resigned yesterday. NASA might get someone qualified for the job next time.
The big bang theory is indeed a theory; but the laypersons use of the word "theory" means something completely different to the scientific usage. In this case it seems that he was trying to promote Christian religious beliefs.
