NGC 6101 (also ESO 69-SC4, Caldwell 107 and GCL 40) is a magnitude +9.2 globular star cluster located 49,900 light-years away in the constellation Apus. 
An 8 inch telescope is require to resolve the brightest stars.

The cluster was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop using a 22.86 cm (9 inch) f/12 speculum Newtonian reflector at Paramatta (now named Parramatta), New South Wales, on the 1st June 1826. 

Right Ascension 16h 25m 48.12s, Declination -72° 12' 07.9"
