NGC 6243 (also MCG 4-40-4, UGC 10891 and PGC 59161) is a magnitude +14.1 spiral galaxy located 493 million light-years away in the constellation of Hercules.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflector at the Marseille Observatory on the 10th June 1880.
