NGC 6004 (also IRAS 15481+1905, MCG 3-40-51, UGC 10056 and PGC 56166) is a magnitude +12.3 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 176 million light-years away in the constellation Serpens.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Jean-Marie Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflecting telescope at the Marseille Observatory on the 14th June 1879.
