NGC 5083 (also IRAS 13167+3951, MCG 7-27-59, UGC 8367 and PGC 46413) is a magnitude +14.2 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 327 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 14th June 1885.
