NGC 6392 (also ESO 70-12, IRAS 17379-6945 and PGC 60753) is a magnitude +11.6 spiral galaxy located 167 million light-years away in the constellation Apus.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at the Cape of Good Hope on the 17th June 1835.
