NGC 5947 (also IRAS 15288+4253, MCG 7-32-19, UGC 9877 and PGC 55274) is a magnitude 13.7 spiral galaxy located 271 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflecting telescope on the 18th June 1884.
