NGC 5943 (also MCG 7-32-16, UGC 9870 and PGC 55242) is a magnitude 13.2 lenticular galaxy located 261 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflecting telescope on the 18th June 1884.
