NGC 6546 (also ESO 521-SC29, Collinder 365 and OCL 24) is a magnitude +8.0 open star cluster located 3,000 light-years(?) away in the constellation Sagittarius. The open cluster consists of about 150 stars, with the brightest central stars of magnitude +10.6
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 27th June 1837.
