NGC 6209 (also ESO 43-8, IRAS 16489-7230 and PGC 59252) is a magnitude +11.8 spiral galaxy located 269 million light-years away in the constellation Apus.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 28th June 1835.
