NGC 6200 (also ESO 277-SC8, Collinder 311 and OCL 978) is a magnitude +7.4 open star cluster located 6,700 light-years away away in the constellation Ara.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 45.72 cm (18 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 1st July 1834.
