NGC 6595 (also 6590, IC 4700, ESO 590-SC15, Sh 2-37, Ced 157b and OCL 31) is a magnitude +7.0 emission nebula and open star cluster located in the constellation Sagittarius.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 14th July 1830. The cluster was rediscovered by Lewis Swift in July 1885 and relisted as NGC 6590. The cluster was also rediscovered by Edward Barnard in August 1905 and relisted as IC 4700.
