NGC 6749 (also Berkeley 42, GCL 107 and OCL 91) is a magnitude +12.4 globular star cluster located 25,800 light-years away in the constellation Aquila.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 15th July 1827.
