NGC 6923 (also IC 5004, ESO 462-29, IC 5004, IRAS 20285-3100, MCG -5-48-17 and PGC 64884) is a magnitude +12.0 spiral galaxy located 130 million light-years away in the constellation Microscopium.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at the Cape of Good Hope on the 31st July 1834. The galaxy was observed by Lewis Swift in July 1897 and relisted as IC 5004.
