NGC 2258 (also MCG 12-7-16, UGC 3523 and PGC 19622) is a magnitude +11.9 spiral galaxy located 187 million light-years away in the constellation Camelopardalis.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/19 refracting telescope at the Arcetri Observatory on the 1st August 1883.
