NGC 6835 (also IRAS 19517-1241, MCG -2-50-9 and PGC 63800) is a magnitude +12.6 barred spiral galaxy located 74 million light-years away in the constellation of Sagittarius.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflector at the the Marseille Observatory on the 2nd August 1881.
