NGC 272 (also OCL 312) is a magnitude +8.5 group of stars or small open cluster located in the constellation Andromeda.
The open cluster was discovered by German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11-inch) f/17.5 Merz refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 2nd August 1864.
