NGC 6383 (also NGC 6374, ESO 393-SC7, Collinder 334 and OCL 1026) is a magnitude +5.5 open star cluster located 3,212 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius.
The cluster was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at the Cape of Good Hope on the 3rd August 1834. The cluster was rediscovered by John Herschel in June 1837 and relisted as NGC 6374.
