NGC 27 (also IRAS 00079+2843, MCG 5-1-44, UGC 96 and PGC 742) is a magnitude +14.5 spiral galaxy located 299 ±15 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 3rd August 1884.
