NGC 5971 (also MCG 9-26-2, UGC 9929 and PGC 55529) is a magnitude +13.8 spiral galaxy located 198 million light-years away in the constellation Draco. NGC 5971, NGC 5963 and NGC 5965 form a triple group of galaxies. The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 5th August 1885.
