NGC 503 (also MCG 5-4-40 and PGC 5086) is a magnitude +14.1 elliptical galaxy located 272 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 13th August 1863.
