NGC 6972 (also MCG 2-53-4, UGC 11640 and PGC 65485) is a magnitude +13.3 spiral galaxy located 208 million light-years away in the constellation Delphinus.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 121.92 cm (48 inch) reflector in Malta on the 15th August 1863.
