NGC 6640 (also IRAS 18263+3416, MCG 6-40-18, UGC 11247 and PGC 61913) is a magnitude +13.5 spiral galaxy located 313 million light-years away in the constellation Lyra.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Édouard Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflector at the Marseille Observatory on the 21st August 1884.
