NGC 472 (also MCG 5-4-22, UGC 870 and PGC 4833) is a magnitude +13.3 spiral galaxy located 244 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 29th August 1862.
