NGC 584 (also IC 1712, MCG -1-4-60 and PGC 5663) is a magnitude +10.4 elliptical galaxy located 76.4 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clay Hall in Old Windsor on the 10th September 1785.
