NGC 315 (also MCG 5-3-31, UGC 597 and PGC 3455) is a magnitude +11.2 elliptical galaxy located 227 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Datchet, Berkshire on the 11th September 1784.
