NGC 6497 (also NGC 6498, IRAS 17506+5929, MCG 10-25-109, UGC 11020 and PGC 60999) is a magnitude +13.5 barred spiral galaxy located 283 million light-years away in the constellation Draco.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 16th September 1884. The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift on the 26th September 1884 and relisted as NGC 6498.
