NGC 687 (also MCG 6-5-14, UGC 1298 and PGC 6782) is a magnitude +12.3 elliptical galaxy located 234 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road in Slough, Berkshire on the 21st September 1786.
