NGC 677 (also IRAS 01464+1249, MCG 2-5-42, UGC 1275 and PGC 6673) is a magnitude +12.2 elliptical galaxy located 235 million light-years away in the constellation Aries.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 25th September 1886.
