NGC 547 (also Arp 308, MCG 0-4-143, UGC 1009 and PGC 5324) is a magnitude +12.2 elliptical galaxy located 251 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 1st October 1785.
