NGC 692 (also ESO 197-3, IRAS 01467-4853 and PGC 6642) is a magnitude +12.3 spiral galaxy located 292 million light-years away in the constellation Phoenix.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 Inch) reflecting telescope at Feldhausen in Wynberg, Cape Town on the 2nd October 1834.
