NGC 1792 (also ESO 305-6, IRAS 05035-3802, MCG -6-12-4 and PGC 16709) is a magnitude +10.2 spiral galaxy located 56 million light-years away in the constellation Columba. NGC 1792 may be gravitationally interacting with its probably neighbour NGC 1808.
The galaxy was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop using a homemade 9-foot 22.86 cm (9 inch) f/12 speculum Newtonian reflector at Paramatta, New South Wales, Australia, on the 4th October 1826.
