NGC 1304 (also NGC 1307, MCG -1-9-38 and PGC 12575) is a magnitude +13.5 lenticular galaxy located 265 million light years away in the constellation Eridanus.
NGC 1304 was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 Inch) speculum reflecting telescope at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 5th October 1785.
The galaxy was rediscovered by Francis Leavenworth in 1885-6 and relisted as NGC 1307.
