NGC 277 (also MCG -2-3-28 and PGC 2995) is a magnitude +13.7 elliptical galaxy located 174 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 8th October 1864.
