NGC 7296 (also NGC 7295 and OCL 228) is a magnitude +9.7 open cluster located in the constellation Lacerta.
The cluster was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road in Slough, Berkshire on the 14th October 1787.
The cluster was rediscovered by John Herschel in November 1831 and relisted as NGC 7295
