NGC 982 (also IRAS 02322+4039, MCG 7-6-39, UGC 2066 and PGC 9838) is a magnitude +12.5 spiral galaxy located 264 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough on the 17th October 1786.
