NGC 683 (also IRAS 01471+1127, MCG 2-5-47, UGC 1288 and PGC 6718) is a magnitude +13.6 spiral galaxy located 240 million light-years away away in the constellation Aries.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 45.72 cm (18 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough on the 17th October 1825.
